Release

Release

Release the ties on my wrist
I’ll release the anger gathered in my fist
Release the hate you spew In my midst
I’ll release the infection you left on our skin like a cyst

Release the war on us, the new generations you continue to enlist
I’ll release the pain behind every name of my people on this endless list

Release your need for skin color to equal divide
I’ll release all the malice and resentment from the times you’ve lied
Release your Blindness open your eyes...
to all of those who died
All of the mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, brothers, sons, families who’ve cried........
 I’ll release the divide
and hope God will lend his grace and his might
 to help us unite...

 Release we need peace
 Please release

I wrote this poem while reflecting on the hardships of 2020

We dealt with two viruses last year and while both are still prevalent it’s hard to stomach one has been raging for what feels like eternity. There is no vaccine there is only healing. There is only a God who promotes love and peace and forgiveness. There is only truth. “Racism is a Pandemic too”.

Lets Love and Heal
